THE mainland China port city of Tianjin has established the largest base for textile and material supplies in Northern China, reports Xinhua News Agency.
It said the new base has attracted many textile manufacturers from the southern provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian and Guangdong which aim to establish a presence there.
When each phase of development is completed, the facility will occupy a floor area of three million square metres. The first phase is designed to command a 1.5 million-square-metre site, which is intended to offer a range of services from international sourcing, product display to distribution for manufacturers of materials, fabrics and equipment.
Statistics show that demand for textiles in the Bohai Rim region is worth CNY100 billion (US$12.77 billion) each year.
